Kits previously identified in this Engineering Advisory (EA) and placed on hold are replaced with new kits introduced in this version of the EA.

Under certain circumstances, applications that use pshare code to interact with Process Shared POSIX 1003.1c objects may experience kernel memory fault (kmf) panics or application hang situations.

Target Audience: Only customers running applications that interact with Process Shared POSIX 1003.1c objects.

The following versions are affected:

• HP Tru64 UNIX v5.1B-3
• HP Tru64 UNIX v5.1B-2/PK4

HP is releasing the following Early Release Patch kits (ERPs) publicly for use by any customer running applications that use pshare code to interact with Process Shared POSIX 1003.1c objects. The ERP kits use dupatch to install and will not install over any Customer Specific Patches (CSPs) that have file intersections with the ERP. Several other minor issues are resolved by this ERP, which contains redesigned parts of the Process Shared POSIX 1003.1c implementation.

Customers installing this ERP can be assured that interface to and the behavior of the external APIs have not changed.
