DESCRIPTION

Under certain circumstances, customers using SCS (System Contention Scope) threads on HP Tru64 UNIX 5.1B-3 may experience unexpected behavior within their applications. Such behavior could include a memory fault, a spin, a hang, or an application core dump. This problem only occurs when customers attempt to redefine default thread scheduling using the environmental variable setting:

PTHREAD_CONFIG=feature="def-scs,att-scs"

 
SCOPE

The following version is affected:

 HP Tru64 UNIX Version 5.1B-3

 
RESOLUTION

HP is releasing the following Early Release Patch kit (ERP) publicly for use by any customer. The ERP kit use dupatch to install and will not install over any Customer Specific Patches (CSPs) that have file intersections with the ERP. The fixes contained in the ERP kits are targeted to be available in the following mainstream patch kit: 5.1B-4.

The kit distributes the following files:

  • /shlib/libpthread.so
  • /usr/shlib/libpthreaddebug.so
