Customers running Tru64 UNIX 5.1B-1/PK3 may encounter a problem when upgrading to 5.1B-3 due to a bug in dupatch. Under certain circumstances, the 5.1B-1/PK3 customers may be unable to delete a CSP with dupatch in menu mode.

The ERP identified in this EA provides a fixed dupatch tool for 5.1B-1/PK3.

This bug does not affect the dupatch command line delete function. Customers may delete CSPs using a command like the one shown in the following example:

/usr/sbin/dupatch -delete -name "Joe" -note "delete" -patch C123.45

 where

• "Joe" is the name of the admin (used for log purposes)
• C123.45 is the patch number

Customers running 5.1B-1/PK3 that are planning to upgrade to 5.1B-3.

The following version is affected:

HP Tru64 UNIX V5.1B-1/PK3

HP is releasing the following Early Release Patch kit (ERP) publicly for use by any customer. The ERP kit will install new dupatch() tools and the following special instructions should be used:

1) Copy the ERP kit into an empty directory (ie /var/erp )

2) Change directory to /var/erp and extract the contents of the tar file.

# tar xpf T64KIT0025776-V51BB24-E-20050602.tar

3) Change directory to "patch_kit" (ie cd /var/erp/patch_kit)

4) Run dupatch with the following command:

# ./dupatch -track -type kit -kit .

The 'dupatch -track' option is used simply as a vehicle to install the new dupatch tools without interfering with any other part of the operating system. You will see messages indicating that the new dupatch tools are being installed. Any output provided by the '-track' option can be ignored. When the command prompt is returned, the procedure is complete.

The fixes contained in the ERP kit is scheduled to be available in the following mainstream patch kit:
