DESCRIPTION
Installation of the NHD5 or NHD6 kit on a Tru64 UNIX V5.1A
TruCluster or V5.1B TruCluster system, that has been upgraded with a
patch kit, may cause an incorrect system configuration. The
installation code for NHD5 and NHD6 does not correctly preserve some
cluster subset files. This can affect any cluster subset files
introduced through installation of a Tru64 UNIX patch kit that was
released after the NHD5 or NHD6 kit was released.
This problem does not impact Sierra Clusters.

RESOLUTION
The NHD7 kit must be used for any installation on clustered
systems that require new hardware support. NHD7 is the only kit that
should be used for the affected Tru64 UNIX TruCluster versions and
patch kits. The NHD7 kit supports all functions found in NHD4, NHD5
and NHD6.
The problem has been corrected in the NHD7 kit. There will not be an
ERP release for the problem.
If any NHD kit, other than NHD7, has been installed on vulnerable
systems, the only recovery is to restore the system files from back
up. The symptom is the kernel build fails after installing a NHD5 or
NHD6 kit. The files to be restored depending on the NHD kit and
version involved are listed below. It is not necessary to install
NHD7 once a successful restore is done.
NHD5 V5.1A /usr/.smdb./OSHTCRBASE521.inv
NHD6 V5.1A /usr/.smdb./OSHTCRBASE522.inv
NHD6 V5.1B /usr/.smdb./OSHTCRBASE542.inv
