HP-UX 11i: measurably better TCO!
HP Worldwide User Advocacy Survey
 Advisory Information

RELEASE DATE: 21 Jun 2004

DESCRIPTION
Installing the Microsoft security patch 828741 from MS04-012 on a Windows Machine (Windows 2000/2003 or Windows XP) can cause login or connection issues with the ASU server. The error message displayed is "A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error occurred."

The security fix from Microsoft causes Windows to issue RPCs that are not supported by ASU, and ASU sends back an incorrectly formatted response. ASU has been fixed to send back a correctly-formatted response, so that Windows then negotiates usage of RPCs that ASU does support.

Target Audience:  Any customer running ASU prior to Version 5.1B ECO2.

SCOPE
The following versions are affected:
  • All ASU Versions prior to ASU Version 5.1B ECO2.

RESOLUTION
This problem has been resolved, and the fix is available in ASU Version 5.1B ECO2.
