DESCRIPTION
The Early Release Patch (ERP) Kits delivered in this Engineering Advisory (EA) correct the following network-related issue identified in the HP Tru64 UNIX operating system:

IP multicast packets do not work over loopback

In some versions of HP Tru64 UNIX, IP multicast packets do not work over loopback  A multicast program in the affected versions fails to receive its own multicast traffic.

HP has corrected this problem.

SCOPE
The following product versions are affected:

• V5.1B PK2 (BL22)
• V5.1A PK4 (BL21) and PK5 (BL23)
• V4.0G PK4 (BL22)
• V4.0F PK8 (BL22)

RESOLUTION
Until the HP Tru64 UNIX corrections are available in the mainstream release patch kits, HP is releasing the following ERP kits publicly for use by any customer. The ERP kits use dupatch to install and will not install over any Customer Specific Patches (CSPs) that have file intersections with the ERP.  Contact your service provider for assistance if the installation of the ERP is blocked by any of your installed CSPs.

The fixes contained in the ERP kits are scheduled to be available in the following mainstream patch kits: 

• HPTru64 UNIX 5.1B   PK3  
• HP Tru64 UNIX 5.1A   PK6
