DESCRIPTION
The Early Release Patch (ERP) Kits delivered in this Engineering Advisory (EA) will correct the following potential I/O performance issue reported on the HP Tru64 UNIX / TruCluster Server operating system:

Slow Memory Channel I/O Performance on EV7

I/O performance across the Memory Channel is slow for cross-cluster operations on EV7 architecture systems.  The performance problem is most evident with large file transfers, but also occurs with smaller transfers.

SCOPE
The problem applies to all EV7 architecture systems running in a memory channel cluster configuration with the following listed versions of HP Tru64 UNIX and TruCluster Server.

The following standard support product versions are affected: 

• 5.1B SSB
• 5.1B PK1 (BL01)
• 5.1B PK2 (BL22)

The following EV7 architecture system models are affected:

• GS1280
• ES80
• ES47

Note: The ERP kits DO NOT  have file intersections with any previously released ERPs for the affected versions.

RESOLUTION
Until the correction is available in a mainstream release patch kit, HP is releasing the following Early Release Patch Kits (ERP) publicly for use by any customer.

The ERP kits use dupatch to install and will not install over any installed Customer Specific Patches (CSPs) that have file intersections with the ERP.  Customers should contact their service providers for assistance if the installation of the ERPs is blocked by any installed CSPs.

The following patch should be installed on ALL EV7 architecture systems.  However, the .mod file is common across the cluster.  The patch is structured so that it can be safely applied across the cluster.

The correction contained in this ERP kit is scheduled to be available in the following mainstream patch kit: 

• 5.1B PK3 (BL24)
